Man, they really picked a bad time for this. Right when Triumph released the street twin to unanimous raves as tho it;s the second coming. Those enfields best be cheap and very good or they may have a heck of a time competing.

its always exciting to see new models from all the brands, and I wish Royal Enfield well with the venture.
The brand has "Heritage" on its side, but has a long way to go before it will ever be a threat to Trumpet sales.
The Royal Enfields that have been sold in Aus for the last 10 years or so, the 500cc Bullet and Classic and variants are about as dependable as they were in the 50's and 60's, except since India bought them and have produced them since the early seventies (I think) the after market parts are inconsistent in quality and sizing. so when you break down, which you will, you ring the shop to send you your bits, then you have to send them back again ad infinitum. so tolerance and patience is needed.
I think the newer 535cc GT Continental may be a better build bike as it is aimed at the international market.
The thing that Enfields have going for them is that half-arsed back yard tinkerers such as my self can have a go at fixing them, as they are simple nuts and bolts machines with carburetors, apart from the GT which I think is fuel injection.
Happy days, indeed
Dermot

I meant a bad time for enfield, not triumph. After those junky asian models they have enough of a bad rap to shake let alone having to compete with triumph's new bikes.
